My Role in the Project
In 2016, while working for Amizade, I had the opportunity to tag along on one of the global service-learning programs for youth from Northern Ireland to document, through pictures and video, that life-changing experience. Later, this documentation would be turned into a video pitch to help convince the Youth Authority of Northern Ireland to double the number of GSL programs in the U.S., since they were seen as an effective opportunity to positively transform the lives of youth at risk living in vulnerable Belfast.
My skills were essential to creating the video pitch, which was a mix of documentary and informational elements. At the end of the day, the final video, which showed youth being transformed by civic engagement opportunities, achieved its objective and guaranteed enough funds to double the number of programs.
